Field Notes from Life on the Road

I’m on the road in the van, sharing Field Notes—short posts, photos, and videos from rides, hikes, camps, and the places in between. I also log practical stops along the way: showers, laundry, groceries, coffee, and overnight parking, plus rough itineraries and route notes as trips take shape.

Upcoming.

January

Arkansas + Colorado

January kicked off with a westbound drive from Birmingham and a run of Arkansas stops—Mount Nebo State Park, Devil’s Den State Park, and a longer stretch in Bentonville. From there I headed into Colorado to visit a long-time friend in Longmont, spent a few days in Keystone before pushing on when the snow didn’t cooperate, and continued west to ride in Grand Junction and Fruita.

February

Utah

March

Utah + Colorado

February picks up in Utah, where I’m settling into desert miles and red rock terrain. Riding and exploring around Moab, then branching out to other stops as weather and trail conditions allow. The van stays parked a little longer this month, with days built around riding, hiking, and seeing how the route unfolds from there.

March has been busy, with many stops in Utah, as well as a few errands on the back end of the month in Grand Junction, Fruita, and lastly Salt Lake City for new shocks on the van. But I am back in Moab for a few days, then headed back down into Southern Utah to check out the Needles District of Canyonlands. From there, Monument Valley. I cannot wait to explore this part of Utah.
