No. A shell plus the right midlayer covers more days.

LumaLens Rose for snowing-hard and shade; LumaLens Dark Smoke for full sun. I use Dragon goggles with a spare lens because the light changes during the day.

How many layers should I wear to ski?

Baselayer + midlayer + shell most days. Drop the midlayer on warm afternoons. You’re more likely to overheat on the way down; you might feel cool on the lift if it’s windy.

What should a first-time skier wear?

Waterproof shell/pants, a warm midlayer, merino baselayers, gloves or mitts, a helmet, goggles with a low-light lens, and good socks.
