I discovered these in a gear shop in Ouray, Colorado,
and now I wear them just about everywhere.

Out walking in my Bedrock Mountain Clogs. I wear these for everything from hiking to wandering around town.
I had never heard of Bedrock Mountain Clogs until I stopped in a gear shop in Ouray, Colorado. I wasn't looking for shoes, but I saw them, tried them on and ended up buying a pair. They were that comfortable.
I bought the Leather Suede version in Sagebrush. They're technically clogs, but not the kind I picture when I think of clogs. I liked the way they looked, and once I had them on my feet, I didn't need much convincing.
Why I Like the Bedrock Mountain Clogs So Much
Comfort is what sold me. They have a wide toe box, so my feet have plenty of room, and the cushioned footbed feels great when I'm walking around. I don't like shoes that squeeze my feet, and these have a nice, roomy fit.
The suede leather is another thing I like about them. It gives them a more casual look than a lot of outdoor footwear, and the Sagebrush color goes with just about everything I wear. They look good with hiking pants, shorts and everyday clothes.
The adjustable straps are a nice feature, too. I can slip them on easily, but when I want a more secure fit, I can adjust the straps to keep them in place. I like having that option, especially since I wear them for more than just hanging around camp.
From the Van to Town to the Trail
I've been wearing these around my van, walking through town and even hiking. They're especially convenient when I'm constantly going in and out of the van and don't feel like putting on my regular hiking shoes.
I also wear them when I'm out exploring a new town or running errands. They're comfortable for walking, and I like that they don't have that typical technical outdoor shoe look.
And yes, I hike in them, too. I'm not giving up my regular hiking shoes, especially for longer or more technical trails, but for easier hikes, these are a nice option. They have a Vibram outsole with good traction, and the adjustable straps help keep them secure on my feet.
That's something I appreciate about these shoes. I can wear them for different things without feeling like I need to change shoes every time I head somewhere.
What You Should Know Before Buying
Bedrock designed the Mountain Clogs for both trail and everyday use, and there are a few features worth knowing about.
A closer look at the features of the Bedrock Mountain Clog Leather Suede, including the wide toe box, adjustable straps and Vibram outsole.

Fit: Adjustable strap system with a secure heel closure.
Construction: Resoleable through Bedrock's Re-Soul program.
Color: Sagebrush (shown); other colors available.
Price: $160.
One thing to pay attention to is sizing. Bedrock says the Mountain Clogs run small compared with standard US sizing and generally recommends ordering one size up. They also have a sizing chart with measurements, which I'd definitely check before ordering online. I was fortunate to try mine on in the shop in Ouray.
Another thing to consider is the suede. These aren't waterproof shoes, and I wouldn't choose them for a muddy hike or a rainy day. They're more of an everyday outdoor shoe for me, with the added benefit of being comfortable enough for some hiking.
At $160, they're not inexpensive, but I appreciate that Bedrock offers a resoling program. When the tread eventually wears down, you can send them back to Bedrock to have the outsole replaced rather than buying an entirely new pair.
Would I Buy Them Again?
My Bedrock Mountain Clogs in Sagebrush. They've definitely seen their share of dirt!
Yes, without question.
I wasn't planning to buy shoes that day in Ouray, but I'm glad I tried these on. They've become one of those pairs I reach for all the time. I like the comfort, the fit and the fact that they don't look like every other outdoor shoe.
If you've never heard of Bedrock Mountain Clogs, they're worth a look. I certainly hadn't, and now they're one of my favorite pairs.
What I'm Eyeing Next: Bedrock Mountain Clogs in Nubuck Leather
The Bedrock Mountain Clogs in black Nubuck Leather. I'm eyeing the grey version next.
I'm already eyeing another pair of Bedrock Mountain Clogs, this time in Nubuck Leather in grey. That color is totally my jam, and I know it would go with even more of what I wear.
I haven't bought them yet, but they're definitely on my list. Considering how much I wear my Sagebrush pair, I can already see myself getting plenty of use out of the grey ones, too.
